Technical Requirements: Or How Does This All Work?

We use a web conference vendor GoToMeeting. It’s both Mac and Windows compatible (see below). There is no cost for the seminars (webinars). You do need to install a very small Active-X application from your Internet Explorer browser (or simply have Java running for Firefox).

Audio Requirements

  • You’ll need a phone that can dial our conference line (your normal long distance fees apply). We’ve investigated toll free lines or integrated audio but at the moment these are cost-prohibitive for free courses.

Viewing the screen on Windows:

  • Internet Explorer® 5.0 or newer, look for the yellow bar warning you about installing the Active-X control. It’s quick, easy and safe.
  • Netscape® 6.0 or newer, Mozilla® Firefox® 1.0 or newer (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled). As long as you have the latest Java running, you don’t need to do anything else.
  • Windows® 2000, XP, 2003 Server or Vista®
  • Minimum of Pentium® 400 MHz with 256 MB of RAM (recommended)

Viewing the screen on a Mac:

  • Safari™ 1.3 or newer, Mozilla® Firefox® 1.5 or newer (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled). As long as you have the latest Java running, you don’t need to do anything else.
  • Mac OS® X 10.3.9 (Panther) or newer
  • PowerPC G3/G4/G5 or Intel processor (G4 450 MHz with 256 MB of RAM or better recommended)
